Senior Network/Applications Engineers


As a Senior Application Network Readiness (ANR) Engineer you will provide the leadership and expertise needed to solve complex government and enterprise customers' network, application, and server capacity and performance issues. This job combines engineering and methodology development disciplines with a business focus for delivering IT performance and process recommendations. You will utilize OPNET's software and your knowledge of industry best practices to plan, design, test, deploy, operate, and optimize IT infrastructures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and lead the execution of network and system design, capacity and performance analyses
  • Develop processes and methodologies for IT performance optimization based on industry best practices (e.g. ITIL)
  • Act as an expert for application performance - understand and utilize OPNET products such as ACE, Panorama, SLA Commander and LoadScaler and other tools to identify key components of transaction performance including transport (e.g. network), front end (e.g. web servers, proxy servers, load balancers), mid-tier (e.g. application servers), and back end systems (e.g. databases).
  • Analyze and understand clients' IT requirements, organization functions, and decision making processes

  • Produce and deliver solution that fulfills clients' needs within budget and schedule constraints
  • Full lifecycle project management and execution including service delivery, business development, and customer presentations
  • Present and articulate advanced product features, benefits, and overall product solutions and services offerings

Qualifications
Here’s what you should bring to the table:

  • Ability to obtain a US Government Security clearance
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related area with 3+ years of communication network design and/or analysis experience
  • A thorough technical understanding of communication networks (designs, protocols, components, and operations)
  • A fundamental technical understanding of multi-tier application architectures and performance issues
  • A professional, take-charge style
  • An ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people
  • A scientific passion for precision and the evolving art of IT
  • OPNET software experience is highly desired
  • Must be motivated to have an impact on our products, our company, and the state of the art.
