Self-Guided Training

If you are unable to attend one of the instructor-led training classes, there are numerous self-guided resources available to learn how to use IT Guru Network Planner or SP Guru Network Planner effectively.

Instructor-Led Training

Classroom-Based training is the best way to learn the material. This allows for a more personal interaction with the instructor, and a classroom environment is more conducive to learning.

Instructor-Led Web-Based training allows you to take a class from your own office.  You will view the instructor's machine, and have the opportunity to interact and ask questions.


Introduction to IT Guru Network Planner and SP Guru Network Planner

Prerequisites:
Basic understanding of network technologies.

Course Description:
Through labs and lecture, this course teaches you the fundamentals of the product workflow and model library.  It focuses on core backbone network design, performance prediction, and device configuration validation. You will learn how to create/import topologies and traffic profiles, and analyze networks using NetDoctor, Flow Analysis, and discrete-event simulation.

This course is also valuable to Modeler users who wish to learn how to use the standard model library and various modules: XDI, NetDoctor, and Flow Analysis.

Notes:

- IT Guru Network Planner and SP Guru Network Planner differ in what types of networks you can import and analyze, but the workflows, methodologies, and analyses are similar.  This class applies to users of both IT Guru Network Planner and SP Guru Network Planner.

 

Agenda:


Day 1:
  • Overview of workflow and use cases
  • Importing IP and layer 2 with XDI
  • Network troubleshooting using NetDoctor
  • Auditing and validating network device configurations

Day 2:
  • Importing traffic with XDI
  • Identifying bandwidth bottlenecks and capacity planning
  • Understanding effects of network failures
  • Capacity planning studies
