Introduction to SP Guru Transport Planner
(1
day, Classroom-Based)

Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of SONET and WDM technology and multiplexing hierarchy.
Course Description:
Through labs and lecture, this course shows you how to design SONET/DWDM backbone networks and
illustrates the benefits that SP Guru Transport Planner provides. You will learn how to import topology, input cost parameters, and output reporting. You will learn how link design,
use of SONET legacy equipment, and application of traffic matrices can
combine to optimize network expansion and configuration. You will review the results of the analyses to evaluate service-level compliance,
network availability, and overall network cost.
Agenda:
- Overview of SP Guru Transport Planner and its use cases
- New features
- Concepts and workflow
- Design and evaluation actions (Grooming, routing, dimensioning)
- Network setup and data import
- Design of SONET/SDH and optical mesh networks
- Grooming upper-layer traffic to lower-layer traffic
- Service and network performance evaluation and reporting
